Montparnasse is open Monday-Friday midday to 8pm, and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9am to 10pm. | pic4> | MontmartreMonmartre village lies to the north of Paris. 130 metres above the city, it has beautiful 18th century architecture to set the mood. You can climb the stairs hand in hand, or travel via the funicular for the cost of a paris metro ticket. If you’re having trouble finding the right words to say, the Montmartre Wall of I Love Yous will definitely help, where there are over 1000 different statements of love in over 300 languages. Then take your other half to the Ronsard at 13 Place St-Pierre for a romantic drink of cocktails and champagne beneath the Sacré-Coeur as you gaze over the whole scenery. The Sacré-Coeur Basilica is also great for views. |
Something a Bit Different
If you want to do something a little less typical this Valentine’s Day, there are still great opportunities in Paris. Why not see the whole of Paris in one day, as you soar over the city in a hot air balloon sipping champagne? Or take a bicycle for two around the largest wood in Paris, the Bois de Boulogne park, modelled on Hyde Park in London; and if you can’t say it with roses, say it with orchids at the orchid expo in the Cité des Sciences.

The Parc de la Villette even has open air screenings right through into the summer in its Prairie du Triangle which is ideal for intimate picnics. The Parc is in Cité des Sciences et de L'Industrie, and also comprises the Grand Hall (for shows and culture), and one of Paris’ most important concert halls, the Zenith. |
Fine DiningYou can tour the oldest wine shop in Paris with its extensive cellar, the Caves Augé, and sample some of its natural wine like other customers including Marcel Proust, then head to Alléosee for quality cheeses. There are over 150 different types here, with thousands of cheeseboards, Fruit and Cheese cocktails and the only maturing cellar in the Parisian underground, the Rue Clairaut.
