Switzerland
The Swiss Confederation has a long history of “neutrality” as a nation, and is incredibly diverse and multicultural due to its borders with Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Liechtenstein. It is renowned for finance, watchmaking, cheeses and chocolate. The cuisine, like the nation, is very mixed and has been influenced by all its neighbours. Swiss food often consists of meat, dairy products, bread, vegetables and fruit.
Swiss Geography
There are 3 regions that comprise the country: the Jura Mountains, the Mittelland, and the Alps. There are further 26 ‘cantons’: Aargau, Appenzell Ausser-Rhoden, Appenzell Inner-Rhoden, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-Stadt, Bern, Fribourg, Geneve, Glarus, Graubunden, Jura, Luzern, Neuchatel, Nidwalden, Obwalden, Sankt Gallen, Schaffhausen, Schwyz, Solothurn, Thurgau, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Vaud, Zug, and Zurich. Switzerland has no coastal areas, but is very mountainous, especially in the Swiss Alps, and has many lakes. The climate makes it very cold in winter and warm in summer.
Swiss Language
German, French, Romansch and Italian are all official languages.
Most Popular City in Switzerland
