France

France is the second most popular tourist destination in Europe, and its easily accessible rail network with direct services have the capacity to connect Eurostar travellers to the widest range of destinations, such as: the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Germany. There are many excellent cultural events and historic sites to visit, as well as world-famous theme and amusement parks, sight-seeing opportunities and entertainment to suit all. French cuisine is especially worth sampling; aside from its most well-known delicacies of frog’s legs and snails (escargots), France, and in particular Paris, is full of local and traditional dishes. France has 9 national parks and around 100 water parks.
French Geography
There are 25 divisions in France- these are the equivalent of counties or states, although 4 are overseas (French Guiyanda, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Reunion). Each division comprises around 8 departments.French climate is very mixed due to the country’s location in Europe. Towards the north, the climate is very similar to that of Britain, while to the south a ‘Mediterranean’ climate prevails with hot summers and cool winters. In the west, an ocean climate gives the region cool summers and winters. Central and eastern France have similar weather but with more of a temperature difference.
French Language
More than 70 million people speak French internationally in around 25 different countries, including Belgium, Switzerland and Canada. On mainland France, many other dialects are also spoken, such as Alsatian, Corsican, Breton, Provencal, Catalan and Flemish. The Basque region also retains the Basque language.

Paris is the largest city in France. The city proper has a population of around 2 million, but combined with its urban and metropolitan areas, is home to a sixth of the French nation.
